The Luna Process

Luna recognizes the inherent risk of moving fragile and valuable collections and provides services to support site and project-specific digital studios. We encounter situations where it is unrealistic to send materials to our offices. The most obvious examples are large 2 and 3-dimensional museum objects.

In these instances we have gone on-site to set up digital studios, such as at the Museum of Modern Art, NY; the Museum of Fine Arts Boston; and the Beinecke Rare Book Library at Yale University. In other cases, we have set up digital studios for the staff of client institutions.

Luna's experience, standards of quality, understanding of complex project requirements, and timely production of deliverables will make our participation a valuable adjunct to your operations.

Project-based Photography Studio

Candidate collections for an additional photography studio (separate from day-to-day operations) operated on a contract basis in order to meet the throughput goals of specific projects. Luna has experience managing remote studios (MFA, Boston and MoMA) and would be delighted to submit a proposal based upon institution-specific project parameters. The studio would be based upon a manufacturing model with set production goals for each day and staff and equipment allocated in order to achieve these goals during a set time period. Variables to consider include:

Equipment (Luna or institution purchased)
Staffing (employees hired by Luna or by client institution)
Accountability

Project Planning

Move from your current level of imaging projects to an expanded initiative providing higher capacity and rates of production. Luna is able to provide consulting services with your institution to establish goals and strategies for the implementation of an on-site facility. To set up a working digital studio, some of the considerations are equipment, workflow, tracking, Quality Control, color and consistency control, and preparation of deliverables (naming, directory structures, documentation, collateral printed inserts, etc.).
