Insight's component-based, multi-tier architecture enables organizations
to meet varied and changing requirements for managing and deploying
collections over the Internet. Insight can as easily address configurations
that distribute functions and resources over multiple, international
sites, as it can address the requirements of organizations providing
centralized access from within a local intranet.
Major changes in the
distribution of resources can be accomplished by simple changes to system
profiles, without interruption of user services. Insight anticipates
scaling, segmenting content, mirroring, and system expansion for enterprise.
Luna's Java-based applications and attention to platform independence
ensures the maximum flexibility in an organization's choice of system
hardware and software. Please contact sales@luna-img.com

User Software
- Insight® JVA Client
This Insight client is written in Java and installs on a user's computer.
It provides the rich user environment and full tool set for media
collections. Users, working with high-resolution images, audio or
video files can perform searches, organize and group content, create
presentations, and view text data relating to those resources.
- Browser Insight® Client
Accessed through a standard Web Browser (such as Explorer or Netscape),
Browser Insight utilizes JavaScript and DHTML to provide Insight user
interaction. The simplified subset of the JVA client features does
not require any software downloads or plug-ins.
- Inscribe
Enables users to create, edit, and delete catalog information over
the Internet. It can support a wide range of cataloging requirements
from simple data input forms to data entry and editing for many interrelated
entities (objects, people, groupings, vocabulary) with complex interrelationships.
Inscribe also offers media handling tools both for cataloging
from digital reproductions and for linking text information with media
content.
- Insight Studio
Insight Studio provides a collection administrator with the tools necessary to build and manage collections. Insight Studio is a wizard based tool supporting batch processing of media, batch import of metadata, user management, cataloging template creation and management, and other basic functions.
- Administrator Tools
The Insight Administrator Tools allow a collection administrator to dynamically manage collections. Components include tools for batch media processing, user and resource management, data indexing, and configuring of the search and user interface.

Backend
Server Components
- Insight® User Manager
The User Manager manages the authentication within Insight. The User
Manager allows collection administrators to add user login IDs, administer
user access rights, create individual folders for saving image groups
and presentations, and add remote Insight collections.
- Insight® Collection Manager
The Insight Collection Manager is a 100% Java, scalable, high-performance
application engine that manages and processes Insight client/server
transactions. The middle tier Collection Manager manages communications
between the databases, media servers and clients.
- Insight® Media Manager
The Media Manager supports multiple resolutions and formats of individual
images as well as audio and video files to serve different applications
and user needs. The clients access media through the media web server
directly to allow fully distributed content and high scalability.
Advanced compression formats are available for high quality/file size
storage and for additional performance.
- XML Gateway
The XML Gateway provides a web-services based interface for searching and retrieves content stored within Insight collections. The XML Gateway is middleware which allows backend interaction between Insight and other XML aware applications.
