Insight v6.2 + LUNA released on May 15, 2009 Our latest update to Insight + LUNA includes adding new user features, enhancing existing ones and also enabling Insight clients to publish and aggregate collections from the LUNA Commons at www.lunacommons.org. The LUNA Commons is where public collections are aggregated and viewed in our new, powerful LUNA browser. While most other collection building tools create isolated collections we’ve built a system which allows institutions to easily share and promote their public collections. The LUNA Commons provides FREE access to hundreds of thousands of images from reputable sources for educational and public use. For more details on the Insight v6.2 + LUNA release, please visit the v6.2 information page.
Images from the History of Medicine Images from the History of Medicine (IHM) provides access to nearly 70,000 images in the collections of the History of Medicine Division (HMD) of the U.S National Library of Medicine (NLM). The collection is now available to the public in our new LUNA browser at www.nlm.nih.gov/hmd/ihm/. The collection includes portraits, photographs, caricatures, posters, and graphic art illustrating the social and historical aspects of medicine dated from the 15th to 21st century. NASA Images available to the public in LUNA
NASA and Internet Archive, a non-profit digital library based in San Francisco, have made available the most comprehensive compilation ever of NASA's vast collection of photographs, historic film and video. The collection is now available to the public in our new LUNA browser at www.nasaimages.org. This is the first step in a five-year partnership that will add millions of images and thousands of hours of video and audio content. The content covers all the diverse activities of America's space program, including imagery from the Apollo moon missions, Hubble Space Telescope views of the universe and experimental aircraft past and present. Internet Archive is developing the NASA Images project using software donated by Luna Imaging, Inc. and with the generous support of the Kahle-Austin Foundation. The new LUNA browser supports the creation of unique URL's to specific content. See a Slide Show of Cat's Eye Nebulas. Listen to President Richard Nixon speaking to Apollo 11 crewmembers Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin via telephone, while the two astronauts stand on the Moon's surface. Or, view an artist's animation showing a brown dwarf surrounded by a swirling disk of planet-building dust. Enjoy! |
