How to Create/Edit Links for Current Document

  1. Log on to Insight

  2. Select a multi-page document (refer to Viewing a Multi-Page Document) from the group of documents.

  3. Open the group of thumbnail images representing your multi-page document.  Select a document image.

  4. Click on the Create/Edit Links button on your Image Workspace tool.  A dialog panel appears.

  1. To create notes or annotations for a specific or linked area in your document, select Annotation New.  Click on your selected image.

  2. Click on Set Link:  Point and then, go back and click on a point in your selected image.  (This indicates where you want to annotate a note or make a reference to your selected text.)    A colored box appears for you to type in your notes.  You may select a color, font, or size for your annotations.

Note:  If your images are linked, notice that your Show Links icon will highlight in green if selected from the Image Workspace tool palette.  Also, if you are going to create multiple links for annotations, media, and web links all in one document or page, it is recommended that you select different colors for your icon anchors (points where you link in your images) so you can easily tell one type of link from another.

  1. You can save, delete or cancel your work.  If you save your annotations, Insight will automatically save it to the file that this record is in.  To delete, select the annotation icon or annotation, and then select delete.

  2. To create a link to audio or video files, or a link to a web address, it is basically the same steps.  Select either the Media or Web button and click on a point within a selected image to anchor the selected area to be linked.

Note:  If you select the Media button you must select a Media type to link to your document.  If you select a web link, you must provide an URL address.

  1. Provide the rest of the details for the creator of the links, such as author’s name, organization, email address, and so forth.  To save this data, click the Save button.  To start over, select Cancel; and to delete the link(s) and data previously saved, click the delete button.
