Create Remote Launch

A remote launch allows you to create an unformatted URL or hyperlink code in order to launch Insight from within a website or another web-enabled application.  You can predefine the opening state of Insight to open on a specific image or a group of images.  

1. Click Group, Create Remote Launch from the main menu options.  You will be prompted to choose Group Workspace, Image Workspace or Group and Image Workspace.  

Group Workspace - tells the remote launch string to open image in the Group Workspace as thumbnails.

Image Workspace - tells the remote launch string to open image in the Image Workspace.

Group and Image Workspace - tells the remote launch string to open images in the Group Window and the Image Workspace.

2. If you choose either Group Workspace or Group and Image Workspace, you will be prompted to select either Select Images or Current Search.  

Select Images will prompt you to choose up to ten images for which you would like to create a remote launch string.  To select an image, simply click on the image.  The title of each selected image will appear on the left hand side of the Group Workspace.  This allows you to reference which images you have already chosen.  If you wish to de-select an image that you have already chosen, simply click it again and it will be deleted from the remote launch.  Once you have selected the images you want included in the remote launch string, click on Submit.

Current Search will ask whether you like the images viewed as Unformatted URL or Hyperlink Code.  Current Search allows you to view all the images in the Group Workspace in your remote launch.  This is helpful if you are performing a search on specific images in Insight that you would like to display in your remote launch.

3. If you choose Image Workspace, you will be prompted to select up to ten images that you would like to view as a remote launch.  To select an image, simply click on the image.  The title of each selected image will appear on the left hand side of the Group Workspace.  This allows you to reference which images you have already chosen.  Once you have selected the images you need, click on Submit.

4. Select Unformatted URL or Hyperlink Code.  These two options are the formats in which you would like to view your remote launch. Then click Copy.  

Unformatted URL - Enables you to paste the link you copied as a web address right into your browser.  Click Go (in your browser).  The page that opens will contain the images that you selected earlier, in the format you selected (either in the Group Workspace, Image Workspace or both).  Close your Remote Launch URL window..  

Hyperlink Code - Enables you to paste the link you copied into a text editor, such as Notepad.  Rename the document or file as .htm.  Open the HTML document that you have just created.  Next, click on the Insight logo or icon that is in your HTML document; this enables you to access the information in your HTML page.  The images are displayed in the format that you selected (Group Workspace, Image Workspace, or Group and Image Workspace).  Close your Remote Launch URL window.

5. Security Warning Page for Distributed Applet - Verification is needed to ensure contents of applet are safe to install.  Three options are:  Yes, No, Always.  Click Yes for applet to be installed.  Click No, not to have applet to be installed.  Click Always for a one-time applet installation, good for perpetuity.
