Installing QuickTime for Java
The use of QuickTime media within Insight requires the installation
of the QuickTime Media Player with QuickTime for Java support.
QuickTime for Java is not part of the "Recommended" QuickTime install, so you
need to do a "Custom" install and specifically select QuickTime
for Java.
At the "Select Components" option panel, ensure that you have selected the
"QuickTime for Java" checkbox. After installation, QuickTime media will be available next time you restart Insight.
STEP 1: Download the QuickTime Installer. Click the
button below to open the QuickTime download site in a new browser window.
STEP 2: Ensure that the proper Operating System has
been defined and click the blue Download QuickTime button. Once you
click the button, you will be redirected to a QuickTime Installation
page. Once the page loads, you will be presented with a File Download
prompt. When asked whether you would like to "OPEN" or "SAVE" the file,
click "OPEN".
STEP 3: After the completion of the download, the archived
installer should open in the preferred application (i.e. WinZip). Double-click
the QuickTimeInstaller executable to begin the installer.
STEP 4: At the "Chose Installation Type" panel, select the "Custom Install" option. Click Next.
STEP 5: At the "Select Components" panel, select the following options:
QuickTime for Java (Required for Insight Media
Playback)
QuickTime Essentials (Default QuickTime Components)
QuickTime Internet Extras (Required for QuickTime
VR Support)
Click Next and complete the QuickTime installation
process. Once the QuickTime Installer has completed successfully ,
QuickTime media will be available next time you restart Insight.
Note:Mac OS X users can expect Java 1.3.1, QuickTime,
and QuickTime for Java to be installed with the operating system.
Windows users don't necessarily have any of these components.
