Content Through Community
CONTENT ENABLED
Luna Imaging’s award-winning Insight Software Suite is the complete solution for building and sharing your visual collections. But
we go beyond just giving you tools for managing your own collections—we also help you gain access to other valuable content. With
the dynamic new front end, LUNA, users can view and work with hundreds of thousands of images in collections available for educational
and public use. And with Virtual Collections and multiple access levels your institution can also become a content contributor to the
Insight community and beyond. Insight also provides advanced tools for the search, organization, and display of both audio and visual
content allowing you to manage your own material while seamlessly integrating available content.
CONTENT CONTROLLED
Insight clients can build collections for public, private, or shared access. Distribution of content has never been easier: Insight
collections are fully enabled for OAI harvesting as well as for federated searching tools through the Insight XML Gateway.
CONTENT SHARED
Shared free resources from the Insight network at www.davidrumsey.com/collections include public collections such as the David Rumsey Historical Map Collection,
containing rare historical cartographic material; the Hoover Institution Archives Poster Collection from Stanford University; and the Museums and Online Archive
of California, containing selected works from the permanent collections of eight California museums. Insight clients can aggregate these collections with their
own private content.
CONTENT AVAILABLE
Subscription and Licensed Content
The AMICA Library
Subscription collections include the AMICA Library (formerly the AMICO Library™), with more than 108,000 high quality works of art from a network of museums worldwide
covering a range of cultures and time periods.
Scholars Resource
Scholars Resource licenses Insight-ready images from more than one hundred museums around the world, including the Louvre and the Prado. The images represent one of the
largest and most important image archives for the teaching of art history at both the basic core content level and in-depth analysis for advanced study. Once the images
are licensed, Luna will transfer the collection directly to the qualifying client’s Insight servers.
Archivision
The Archivision Digital Research Library offers in-depth coverage of important works in the history of architecture, gardens, parks and public art. Archivision now offers two options for their licensed images: Hosted Service and Local Service. With Hosted Service, institutions licensing the Digital Library have the option of accessing it in Insight hosted by Luna—you don’t need an Insight license to take advantage of this opportunity. With Local Service, Insight clients may elect to have the full Digital Library, or various Library modules, migrated to their local servers with the help of
Luna’s Professional Services as a pre-built collection.
CONTENT AND MORE…
Insight v6.0 will bring even more exciting developments for interoperability and exposure where we hope to move content from ‘out of sight’ to ‘in Insight’—easily
accessed and free.
