The Insight Client consists of two workspaces:

• the Insight Group Workspace focuses on the search, retrieval, and organization of digital content,
• and the Insight Image Workspace focuses on interaction and evaluation of one or many digital images and associated data

• Find Media and Data
  Insight's search features allow you to quickly find the media and data you need in even the largest collections. Insight supports simple keyword and/or metadata field searches, or advanced searches across multiple keywords and fields using Boolean operators.
• View Media
  View images in extraordinary detail and playback audio and video files in Insight's Image Workspace. Tools available include zooming, panning, measurement and scaling, notes and annotations, and metadata viewing. With integrated native support for JPEG 2000, the finest detail is made available at the fastest possible speeds without the need for plugins.
• View Data
  Whether browsing or searching collections, playing back a presentation or movie, or viewing high resolution detail of a single image, data is never more than a click away. Data can be viewed in a collection's native metadata template, or in published standards such as Dublin Core and VRA Core 3.0.
• Create and Export Dynamic Presentations
  Insight presentations can be exported to HTML, Microsoft's PowerPoint™ on Windows, and Apple's Keynote™ on the Macintosh.

Quickly and Easily Build Visual Collections - Insight Studio and Personal Insight

Insight Studio supports batch media and data import for small or large collections.
Personal Insight allows you to catalog your media directly after import. Key features:

• Support for custom and standard metadata templates
  Insight provides powerful metadata template and cataloging support. Build collections using preexisting cataloging templates such as Dublin Core and VRA Core 3.0. Use Insight to modify a preexisting template, or create a custom template from scratch. Once created, templates can be reused across one or many collections.
• Importing Media
  Simple, easy to use tools allow administrators and end users to add audio, video, and image files to their collections. Insight automatically handles complex media processing tasks such as thumbnail and derivative image generation. Insight offers superior performance when processing and viewing high-resolution images, using native support for JPEG 2000 (no plug-in needed).
• Importing Data
  Insight supports batch data import. Use wizard-based tools to match tab delimited text files to any pre-configured or custom metadata template, and efficiently create thousands or tens of thousands of new data records.

Inscribe
Inscribe supports repeating values, complex data relationships, required fields, controlled vocabularies, field formatting, and much more.

Along with rights management, Inscribe provides process management, allowing the content publication process to mirror that of an organization's instead of being governed by the tool.

Personal Insight
Owners of an Insight Personal Collection can edit any existing data record, or create a new record, using a simple editor built into Insight.

Share Collections and Access Others - Insight Collection Registry

Insight is more than a software application; it represents a community interested in sharing content as well as ideas.

With Insight's network architecture, members of the Insight community can share content within an organization and between organizations. The Insight Collection Registry provides a centralized location for individual collection settings. Simply add these to the Insight User Manager to allow for cross collection access and searching.

XML Gateway
You can introduce Insight content into any application by separating Insight's visual interface from its strong search and retrieval functionality. With the XML Gateway, users are provided with a simple web services interface, an XML API, which allows applications to outsource functionality to Insight and capitalize on its strengths - allowing developers to focus on user interaction and not on how to perform searches.

Static OAI Repository
Insight has a utility to generate a static OAI repository for any or all of your collections. A static OAI repository is an XML document formatted in accordance with OAI guidelines. Static repositories are useful for small and relatively static metadata collections.

Security
Insight provides a diverse toolset to protect your content, from support for single sign-on, to added security for media content and built-in tools for rights management. Almost every function within Insight can be restricted by user, or by groups of users, allowing you to manage who has access to content and how they can interact with it.
